The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kano Sector Command, says it has restore free flow of traffic after a Kano State Fire Service firefighting truck overturned while responding to an emergency on Obasanjo Road in Kano.
The Sector Commander, CC Idris Mohammed Lawal, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday by the Sector Public Education Officer, CRC Abdullahi Aliyu Labaran.
Lawal said the command received a distress call from the Kano State Fire Service at about 3:00 a.m. informing it that the firefighting truck had overturned and blocked the road.
He said the command immediately deployed its rescue team and a heavy-duty towing vehicle to the scene to clear the obstruction and restore traffic.
According to him, the operation was carried out successfully as the overturned truck was evacuated and normal vehicular movement resumed within a short time.
The sector commander said the prompt response was in line with the statutory responsibility of the corps under the FRSC (Establishment) Act, 2007, to remove road obstructions and ensure the free flow of traffic.
He commend the Kano State Fire Service for its cooperation during the operation and reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to prompt emergency response, effective traffic management and inter-agency collaboration.
Lawal urge members of the public to promptly report road crashes, vehicle breakdowns and other road obstructions to the nearest FRSC office or through the National Emergency Toll-Free Number, 122, for immediate response.
