The Kano State Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND) has conducted a post-funding verification of the newly installed Starlink satellite internet network at the Kano State Agency for the Control of AIDS (KSACA) as part of efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of public funds.
The verification followed the release of N1.343 million by KHETFUND to KSACA on Nov. 14, 2025, under its 2026 Regular Intervention Programme for the procurement and installation of the high-speed internet facility.
The verification team, led by the Director of Operations of KHETFUND, Dr. Muhammad Lawan Adamu, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Dr. Fatima Usman Zahraddeen, assessed the quality of the installation, its functionality and its impact on the agency’s operations.
Adamu said the exercise was aimed at ensuring that interventions funded by the agency were utilised for the purposes for which they were approved.
He said that strengthening digital infrastructure was critical to improving healthcare administration and service delivery across the state.
According to him, the Executive Secretary remains committed to ensuring that all KHETFUND-supported projects deliver value and enhance healthcare outcomes for the people of Kano State.
Responding, the Director-General of KSACA, Dr. Usman Bashir, commended KHETFUND for supporting the agency with the installation of the Starlink internet network.
Bashir said the facility had significantly improved the agency’s operational efficiency, particularly in data management, reporting and communication with healthcare facilities and development partners.
He said reliable internet connectivity was essential for effective HIV/AIDS control programmes, especially in real-time data collection and coordination of interventions across the state.
The director-general expressed appreciation to KHETFUND for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful in strengthening the agency’s response to HIV/AIDS. (NAN)
