The Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA) and the Association of Industrial Pharmacists of Nigeria (NAIP), Kano State Chapter, have pledged to strengthen collaboration toward improving pharmaceutical supply and healthcare delivery in the state.
The Director-General of DMCSA, Pharm. Gali Sule, made the commitment when he received the newly elected executive members of NAIP Kano on a courtesy visit to his office on Monday in Kano.
Sule congratulated the new executives on their election and urged them to work toward strengthening unity and cooperation among pharmacists and other stakeholders in the pharmaceutical sector.
He describe NAIP as an important partner to the agency, saying closer collaboration would contribute to strengthening the pharmaceutical supply chain and ensuring the availability of quality medicines in health facilities across the state.
The DG also called for greater engagement between the association and DMCSA, noting that improved cooperation would promote professional development and enhance healthcare service delivery.
Sule disclosed that DMCSA had been accredited by the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) as an internship training centre.
He said the accreditation demonstrated the agency’s commitment to professional development and capacity building in the pharmacy sector, while providing young pharmacists with practical experience in pharmaceutical supply chain management.
The DG commended NAIP Kano for its contributions to the advancement of the pharmacy profession and expressed optimism that the new leadership would build on the achievements of its predecessors.
Earlier, the Chairman of NAIP Kano, Pharm. Gershom Dashe, said the delegation visited the agency to formally introduce the newly elected executives and strengthen the association’s relationship with DMCSA.
Dashe appreciated the DG for receiving the delegation and assured him of the association’s readiness to collaborate with DMCSA and other stakeholders to advance the pharmacy profession and healthcare delivery in Kano.
He also disclosed that the association planned to organise an annual football tournament involving pharmacy stakeholders to promote unity, interaction and stronger professional relationships among practitioners.
He said the initiative was aimed at creating an avenue for pharmacists and other stakeholders in the sector to interact beyond their professional activities.
