SUFAYE Investment Ltd. has handed over damaged and expired products worth about N200 million to the Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KCPC) for lawful disposal.
The Manager of the company, Alhaji Jabir, made the presentation to the Executive Secretary of KCPC, Dr Ibrahim Garba Muhammad, in Kano.
Receiving the items on behalf of the council, Muhammad described the gesture as a significant contribution to efforts to prevent damaged, expired and adulterated products from reaching consumers.
He urged other companies and business owners in the state to emulate SUFAYE by withdrawing damaged, expired and adulterated products from the market rather than selling them to the public.
The executive secretary disclosed that the council had, within the last four months, received products worth millions of naira which were awaiting approval from Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf for lawful destruction.
Muhammad appreciated residents, companies and business owners in the state for their cooperation and support toward protecting consumers and ensuring the safety and quality of products in the market.
Earlier, Jabir said the initiative was part of the company’s efforts to inspect and assess its products and withdraw those that had expired, in compliance with regulatory requirements and sound business practices.
He commended KCPC for its continuous monitoring and supervision of products in the market, saying such efforts would contribute significantly to protecting public health.
Jabir assured that the company would continue to produce quality products, particularly beverages, while contributing to the economic development of the state.
