By Edito Stakeholders commend KAROTA MD over improved operations

Stakeholders in the transport sector in Kano State have commended the Managing Director of the Kano State Roads Traffic Agency (KAROTA), Mr Faisal Mahmud Kabir, for improving the operations of the agency.
The stakeholders gave the commendation on Wednesday when they visited the agency’s headquarters in Kano to appreciate Kabir’s policies and programmes since he assumed office in 2023.
The stakeholders, comprising commercial drivers’ unions, road transport employers and other professionals in the transport sector, said the reforms had improved the conduct and operations of KAROTA personnel.
They said the personnel now discharged their duties with greater dignity, decency and decorum.
Speaking on staff development, the Director of Administration and General Services of KAROTA, Mr Mahmud Haido, said Kabir had taken steps to formalise the appointment of agency personnel in line with the civil service structure.
Haido said various welfare measures had also been introduced to improve staff productivity.
He added that the agency had encouraged its personnel to pursue further studies to enhance their professional development.
Responding, Kabir assured the personnel of his commitment to sustaining measures aimed at improving their welfare and performance.
He urged them to remain committed to effective service delivery for the benefit of the people.
Kabir also commended Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf for his support to the agency, saying the achievements recorded would not have been possible without the governor’s assistance.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Motor Parks, Alhaji Yahuza Adamu ’Yankaba, said he had enjoyed a cordial working relationship with the KAROTA managing director.
Adamu said Kabir had given him the necessary support and freedom to discharge his responsibilities as Special Adviser on Motor Parks.
He assured the managing director of his continued support in efforts to reposition the agency.
The Officer in Charge of General Operations at KAROTA, Mr Auwalu Shehu Muhammad, described Kabir as a transformational leader who had introduced positive changes to the agency since assuming office.
The event featured the presentation of awards and letters of commendation to outstanding KAROTA personnel, as well as the decoration of newly promoted staff.
