The Kano State Ministry of Education has announced Sept. 6 and Sept. 7 as resumption dates for boarding and day schools, respectively, for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The ministry made this known in a statement signed by its Director of Public Enlightenment, Mr Musbahu Aminu-Yakasai, on Wednesday in Kano.
It said boarding schools would resume on Sunday, Sept. 6, while day schools would resume on Monday, Sept. 7.
According to the statement, the first term of the academic session is scheduled to end on Saturday, Dec. 12.
The Commissioner for Education, Mr Ali Haruna-Abubakar Makoda, urged students, parents and guardians to make the necessary preparations to ensure prompt resumption on the stipulated dates.
Makoda also directed school authorities to ensure adequate preparations for the smooth commencement of academic activities and provide a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.
He wished students, teachers and other stakeholders in the education sector a successful and productive academic session.
