The Kano State Ministry of Education has conducted a common entrance examination for admission into Junior Secondary School (JSS) One of the Chinese Bilingual School and French Bilingual School, Kwankwaso.
The examination, held on Saturday at Mairo Tijjani Girls Science College, attracted about 300 pupils from the 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
The exercise was organised to provide qualified pupils with access to specialised language education and ensure a transparent and merit-based admission process into the two bilingual schools.
The ministry also provided food and drinking water for the candidates during the examination to ensure their comfort and well-being.
The Commissioner of Education, Gwani Dr Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, represented by the Director of Schools, Malam Sagir Umar Danbare, expressed satisfaction with the smooth and orderly conduct of the examination.
Makoda commended the pupils for their commitment and urged them to remain focused on their studies.
He said proficiency in foreign languages, particularly Chinese and French, would provide pupils with opportunities in education, diplomacy, business and other fields.
The commissioner also commended the teachers, examination officials and other personnel involved in the conduct of the exercise.
He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to maintaining high standards in the admission of pupils into its schools.
Makoda assured parents and guardians that the admission process would be conducted fairly and transparently based on candidates’ performance in the examination.
He said the Chinese Bilingual School and French Bilingual School, Kwankwaso, were among initiatives aimed at strengthening language education and broadening educational opportunities for pupils in the state.
